Milagros!

Lots of miracles this week! We had two baptisms this Saturday, Nora (The lady that sells beer) and Yessica (The lady with lots of little girls) and it was awesome! Tons of people came (and by tons I mean more than 5 haha) including our mission president! It was such a good expirience and was literal evidence for me that God exists!  Like the scriptures say he is the same yesterday today and forever. He still is a God of miracles!

Also! I went to the temple, and Betty (the lady who got baptised last week) came and was baptized for over 15 people, and she was also baptized for her grandmother! It was so cool to see the chain reaction of missionary work. This woman is amazing!

When we invited Yessica to be baptized she wasnt really sure, she was super nervous. But that week she was reading in the book of mormon and she told us she prayed that God would give her an answer, and randomly opened the book. The first verse that she read was about baptism! She said she knew God had answered her prayers.

Also, something SUPER funny. The other day we were walking in the street contacting people. When I saw a little old lady like SUPER DUPER old walking with her daughter. I looked at my companion and said "Hey Hermana... Im gonna baptize that old lady" and like 10 seconds later she walked up to us and said "Hi, Im julia...My daughter is a member of your church. I want to get batized." WHAT! I almost died it was sooooo weird! haha Turns out her husband died like a year ago and he was mormon and she said that she knows its true and wants to be with her husband forever! she is 88 years old! Just goes to show its never to late.

Yesterday walking home from church my companion was attacked by a mango tree. hahaha it was so funny... la la al al alaaaaaaa y BOOM mango se cayo del arbol! A mango fell rigt on her foot and like exploded everywhere.

Like you can tell this week has been crazy and these next couple weeks will be even crazier! We will see how it goes! Stay safe! Love you all!

La Gripe has returned!

Well, I have a cold again. So that sucks. My nose is stuffy and I have a cough but I am doing alright. The way I got it though will be a story I will tell all of my great grandchildren millions of times "There I was... walking climbing the hills and stairs of mapasingue in guayaquil Ecuador... preaching the gospel to the decendants of the lamanites when all of the sudden a huge rain cloud blew over and soaked us as we were contacting. The worse part? NO UMBRELLAS!" dun Dun DUNNNN! Haha Before this day I always thought that if we were soaking wet more people would let us in because they would feel bad. Haha.... lets just say I was wrong. Also... I always have an umbrella now.

The other day we were in a lesson teaching this lady in her tiny cement house with a little tin roof when all of the sudden it started getting really windy. The houses in this part of my sector dont normally have glass in the window, only curtains or shutters, so the whole house was howling with all the wind and then the light bulb burnt out haha so we just kept teaching like nothing happened because we didnt want the lady to feel bad about her little rinky dink house. but seriously I thought the wind was gonna take the roof off! haha It was awesome! but yeah it always is super windy like five minutes before the rain comes, so when there is a lot of wind me and my companion look at eachother like ... "oh crap" haha but its not a cold rain, its warm.. and the humidity after is horrible haha we dont walk through the air, you have to swim! lol just kidding but it is really humid.

Betty was baptised this past saturday :) and now this saturday Nora is gonna get baptised!! The woman that was selling beer! Seriously... I cant even begin to tell you her story. Lets just say miracles are real. I have seen the hand of God in her life. ANNNNND we have another baptism this Saaturday :) So one last week and two this week! I cant believe it! Her name is Yessica (but you say it like Jessica) and she has four little girls that are just so cute! haha I will be sure to take lots of pictures!

I love you guys! have a good week!

Invierno my Butt!

Hello Everybody!

Winter has arrived and let me tell ya, the people werent kidding when they told me it gets even HOTTER! I cant believe it or begin to describe it, all I can say is It. Is. So. HOT. and humid too! Its like im on the equator or something..haha... its been starting to rain a little bit more each week aswell. Everyone keeps telling me the floods are coming. Haha, guess its time to start building the ark! Just call me Noah. lol Just kidding, but apparently it floods a ton this time of year. So that will be cool. I will probably end up buying really attractive rainboots and by attractive I mean hideous. Its almost 100% impossible to be an attractive sister missionary outside of the US. There are only few girls that can do it..... and I hate them. Haha (just kidding)

Im glad you guys had a good birthday mom and garret! The pictures look awesome. And that cake looks amazing!

Cake in ecuador isnt that great la verdad. Its either super super dry and crumbly or they soak it in condensed milk. Never a really good in between. But there is SO MUCH BREAD. There is a bakery on almost every corner. (and I still question why I am getting fat?... hmmm...)

Speaking of fat. My companion and I have a new goal for this year! EJERCICIOS... We have gone running and done jump rope... it even got to the point where I filled up milk juggs with water and use them as weights. SO we will see how long our "Ghetto gym" lasts, but so far so good. I know you guys wont believe me but I am slowly but surely becoming a morning person.

This week was suuuuuuuuuuuuuper long. Our numbers were really low this week. Its just that no one was home, or no one wanted to listen. So that was hard. However we made some really good detailed plans and are excited for this coming week!

BETTY IS GETTING BAPTIZED THIS SATURDAY WOOOHOOO! This girl is a golden investigator. she is 26 years old, and the daughter of Nora (the woman I told you guys about) and I have never seen anyone more ready for baptism than her. So this saturday at 7 One more of Gods children will be baptized! YAY

I love my mission so very much. Somedays are SO HARD but I know if I am obedient, and have a POSITIVE ATTITUDE I will be blessed!

Love ya guys!

Cambios!

Hello everyone!

Well, cambios came and went.. Im still here in Mapasingue with Hermana Cordova. Which isnt bad because I like my sector buuuut.... me and Hermana Cordova havent been getting along lately. Its really hard because when I wake up she is there... during the day... she is there... when I go home? Still there. Haha I miss living in a house with other Hermanas. Im never alone but sometimes it gets pretty lonely. One of the hardest things about a mission is working with other people. I love Hermana Cordova, but we just havent been getting along really well and its making things a little hard.

Other than that, I am no longer sick, so thats good! haha New years here is CRAZY haha we had to be in our house at 6 (normally we go home at 9) and we had to stay in the house allllllllllll day from six the 31st until the 2nd haha so that was boring. But we watched fireworks from the window and we watched them burn manegotes. Manegotes are these giant paper doll things that they make here that represent the old year. And at midnight they burn them! They stuff them full of fireworks and stuff. Its crazy! haha some are little, like one foot. But others are as big as an apartment building! I have a few pictures of some of the manegotes that we´ve seen. I will send them next week.

I officially have 7 months in the mission! What what. Haha, Its so weird to think that I will come home THIS year! I mean its still 11 months but it is going by fast.

and guess what! I am mad at all of you! WHY DIDNT ANYONE TELL ME AVENGERS 2 IS COMING OUT IN MAY! hahahahahaha I almost died when I found out! but chuta. I guess thats one thing I am learning in the mission.... patience. haha

Haha also, I have given up on trying to look nice. The only thing I do for makeup now is mascara because it is so freaking hot! I have never felt a sun so direct or air so humid haha people keep telling me it gets worse until about... hmm.... may or june. And pretty soon rainy season starts here, so that will be crazy. I am pretty sure my body has forgotten what its like to be cold lol. My tan lines are really funny though.

I am so grateful to be here, I learn something new everyday and I really know this is the Lords work. We dont have many people progressing right now. Its hard to get people to go to church. Sometimes my companion and I wanna kill eachother... but I love this work with all of my heart. I know I am here for a reason.

Love you all!

Hermana Meeyer (thats how they say my name here) lol
